Girlfriend: No gay watch

<div class="section1"><div class="Normal"><script language="javascript">doweshowbellyad=0; </script><br />Film: <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Girlfriend</span><br /><br />Director: Karan Razdan <br /><br />Cast: Isha Koppikar, Amrita Arora, Ashish Choudhary<br /><br />Rating: <img src="/photo/734670.cms" alt="/photo/734670.cms" border="0" /><img src="/photo/734671.cms" alt="/photo/734671.cms" border="0" /><br /><br />The good things first: the film does have characters you have probably never seen before.<br /><br /><img src="/photo/734672.cms" alt="/photo/734672.cms" border="0" />A guy who is so daft he can’t tell that his attacker in body-skimming clothes and a mask is a well-endowed woman.<br /><br />A heterosexual woman, in a drunken stupor, sleeps with another woman, but mistrusts men.<br /><br />A homosexual woman makes money out of kick-boxing and mince meat out of men who try to come close to her.<br /><br />Now, apply the following Bollywood formula to this romantic thriller to know what Girlfriend is about: <br /><br />Three characters + romance = love triangle involving an obsessed person<br /><br />Thriller + romance = the villain will be inadvertently killed in an attack on rival. The obsessed lover will behave as if possessed – ketchuped face, bloodshot eyes and constantly jerking neck.<br /><br />The only difference here is the obsessed person is a lesbian, who wouldn’t let her flatmate get close to her boyfriend.<br /><br />The two women live in an expansive house, which has only one bed. So, the sisters-in-arms sleep together every night after bashing up goons at nightclubs. If you believe the director, everyone’s gay in this world.<br /><br />Lesbian goes out of town. The straight one is left alone in huge, isolated house but is scared of going out with men. So, she goes with another gay, with whom she feels safe. Straight man takes a fancy to straight woman, but knows of her paranoia of men and acts demented pretending to be gay to get close to her.<br /><br /></div> </div><div class="section2"><div class="Normal">She dumps him when she figures out his hetero status, but goes back to him after he sings her a song.<br /><br />The dialogue is a new too: ever heard of two love birds coo "1-2-3-4" to each other when they mean ''I love you’?<br /><br />If that unintended comedy wasn’t enough, there are the homosexual myths: The lesbian was abused as a child. She hates all men.<br /><br />Her female friend, even after sleeping with her, has no idea about her sexual orientation. After years of staying together, she is blissfully oblivious of all the fondling when she’s asleep.<br /><br />Even the scenes meant for titillation run out of steam: the women seem as if they are trying to figure out whose shampoo smells better.<br /><br />Arora and Choudhary seem to have spent more time in their makeup rooms than on the sets. Koppikar can act, but that doesn’t matter: her role is so bad.<br /><br />Like the rest of the film; it’s no gay watch.</div> </div>
